Jammu : Jammu and Kashmir Agriculture Minister Abdul Aziz Zargar Wednesday says there is no agrarian crisis in the state. As proof, he refers to the fact that no farmer in the state has committed suicide in the last one year.
“There is not a single case of suicide by a farmer in the whole of Jammu and Kashmir,” Zargar told the state assembly.
He made this claim in response to an allegation by National Conference legislator Ajay Sadhotra that farmers in the state were on the verge of starvation as there was an acute shortage of fertilisers.
Zargar held that there were sufficient stocks of fertilisers.
“I will resign just now if the member’s charges are proved correct,” he said.
