Zimbabwe cricket team arrives in Pakistan

Islamabad : A 23-member Zimbabwe cricket squad led by spinner Proper Utseya arrived in Karachi Saturday on a three-week trip during which they will play five One-Day International (ODI) matches.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Director (Operation International) Zakir Khan and other officials received the team at Karachi airport.

From the Quaid-e-Azam International Airport, the cricketers were driven to their hotel with a very heavy security escort.

The PCB officials said that all the matches would be held under high security.

Zimbabwean officials said their advance team had reviewed the security situation and were satisfied with the arrangements.

After Thursday’s blast in Lahore killing 25 people raised safety alarms, Pakistan has made elaborate security arrangements for the visiting team.

Besides their five ODIs, Zimbabwe will play a four-day game Monday against PCB Patrons XI.

Zimbabwe squad: Vusimsui Sibanda, Hamilton Masakadaza, Justice Chibhabha, Tatenda Taibu, Brendan Taylor, Stuart Matsikenyri, Keith Dabengwa, Elton Chigumbura, Proper Utseya (Captain), Gray Brent, Ray Price, Christopher Mpofu, Tawanda Mupariwa, Sean Williams and Timycen Maruma.

The team is accompanied by Robin Brown (coach), Walters Chawguta (assistant coach), Given More Makoni, Amato Machikicho (Physio), Anesu Kafesu (Analyst) Lorraine Chivandire (Fitness trainer), Lovemore Banda (Media Manager) and Vumindaba Moyo (Selector on tour).
