Kashmir govt assures action against `tainted minister’

Jammu : Jammu and Kashmir government today assured that it will take an action against the minister and his personnel staff, against whom an independent MLA has leveled `serious; corruption charges on the floor of state legislative assembly.

Following the ruckus created by the opposition benches over the charges leveled by MLA Sangrama Shoaib Ahmed Lone that he was forced to pay bribe to the personnel staff of a minister, deputy chief minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig requested the member to reveal the name of the `culprit’ to the chief minister.

“He can name the minister in the House or to the chief minister”, Baig said, while speaking in the LA today. “However, I would suggest that being a member of the House, Lone should reveal the name to the Chief Minister and prove his allegations before an action is taken against the minister”.

Lone, on Friday, had alleged that he was forced to pay Rs 40,000 to the personnel staff of a minister for getting the file of his sister approved from the minister. The issue created ripples in the state politics and opposition NC chose to take the bull by its horn.

After the assurances, Shoaib Lone also agreed that he would reveal the name to the chief minister so that action is taken against the guilty.
