Judicial academy proposes new victim justice system

Bhopal : The National Judicial Academy’s former director N.R. Madhava Menon will present a draft proposal on the national criminal justice policy during a three-day All India Criminology conference beginning Friday at the National Law Institute University (NLIU) here.

Over 500 delegates, including legal experts from abroad, are expected to participate in the conference, the first of its kind in the country, to advocate the devising of a victim justice system, NLIU officials said.

Indian Society of Criminology, Mumbai, is organising the conference during which issues like laws for rape, domestic violence, sexual harassment of women and children and exploitation of lower castes will be discussed.

A total of 204 research papers dealing with subjects like crime against women and children, and cyber crimes will also be presented during the conference.

Law experts from South Africa, Bangladesh, Israel, Italy and the US will also make their presentations on various aspects of crime.
