Rawalpindi : Pakistan and Afghanistan have agreed to enhance the existing three weekly flights to ten with a total of 10,000 passengers per week in each direction with type of aircraft not exceeding the capacity of B-737 or equivalent.
Bilateral Air Services Agreement (ASA) talks between Pakistan and Afghanistan were held in Ministry of Defence here on Wednesday.
Pakistani side was led by Major General Mir Haider Ali Khan, Additional Secretary-1, Ministry of Defence and Eng whereas the Afghan side was led by Raz Mohammad Alami, Technical and Operational Deputy Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation of Afghanistan.
A Memorandum of Understanding was also signed. The two sides agreed to expand the existing bilateral arrangements in order to promote trade, tourism and people to people contacts.
Pakistan delegation granted open sky for passenger and cargo operations to/from Gwadar International Airport to the designated airlines of Afghanistan and agreed to provide a list of training courses also with relevant details to the Afghan side, through diplomatic channels.
The MoU, signed Wednesday, would provide an opportunity to the businessmen of the two sides to enhance trade between the two countries and provide an opportunity to further promote bilateral relations in different spheres of life.
