Ramallah : An Israeli warplane attacked a civilian car in Gaza city early on Monday wounding three occupants of the vehicle, medical sources said.
Dr. Mu’awiah Hassanain, in charge of the emergency department of the Palestinian Health Ministry, told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the wounded were whisked to Al-Shifaa Hospital. One was in serious condition.
Witnesses said the three men were injured when an overflying Israeli warplane hit their vehicle with a single air-to-surface missile.
One Palestinian lost his life and three others suffered injuries in Israeli attacks that targetted a group of Arab natives in the north of Gaza Strip last night.
Tit-for-tat attacks have noticeably stepped in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, with Tel Aviv imposing a tight siege on Gaza and retaliating intensively and immediately for recurring missile attacks. The Israelis have vowed to keep the siege on the strip as long as the Palestinians target southern Israel with missiles.
The southern Israeli town of Sderot was hit with missiles anew yesterday, but no one was wounded.
Up to 40 Palestinians have been killed in stepped-up attacks in Gaza since four days ago. More than 160 others have been wounded.
At least 6,000 people, mainly Palestinians, have lost their lives since flare-up of the second Palestinian uprising in September 2000.
