Gaza : Israel said it has allowed entry of industrial fuel supplies to Gaza to operate hospitals and main facilities.
Israel Radio quoted sources from the Israeli Army as saying Tuesday that Carnie Crossing will also be open to allow the dispatch of medicines to the Gaza Strip.
The sources said the new steps were ordered by Israel Defence Minister Ehud Barak.
The majority of Gaza’s districts spent Monday night in complete darkness after Israel banned the entry of fuel to the Strip, leading to power blackout.
Palestinian sources said Israeli forces allowed Tuesday pumping of industrial fuel to Gaza’s fuel stations through special pipes through the crossing of Nahal Oz, east of the city.
Israel also pumped 200 tons of cooking gas through the same crossing, but did not pump any quantity of fuel for motor vehicles on Tuesday, according to the sources.
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert announced at a meeting of the Israeli government Monday that the Palestinians must walk and not use vehicles, adding that “that is not a problem.”
