Abu Dhabi : The international phase of the UAE’s ‘Generous Hands’ initiative has been launched here.
Deputy Prime Minister and UAE Red Crescent Authority chairman Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan will shoulder the cost of implementing the initiative, which aims at alleviating the sufferings of sick poor people worldwide.
The initiative, the first of its kind in the world, will offer worldwide a special medical treatment programme for the sick, who cannot afford to pay for their medical treatment.
Sheikh Hamdan said the initiative is another model of humanitarian work by the government and people of the UAE. This is being done in line with the directives of President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the follow-up of UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and in implementation of the vision of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and deputy supreme commander of the UAE armed forces, General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
He said that it is also in continuation of the policy of the late UAE founder, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who was committed to voluntary and humanitarian works, and to reaching out to the sick, poor and needy people worldwide.
Sheikh Hamdan pointed out that this kind of humanitarian initiatives, which have great impact on the society, will help thousands of sick people who have no means of paying for medical treatment. “This is where the ‘Generous Hands’ initiative comes to work to implement various medical programmes of various medical specialisations with the active participation of elite medical doctors from reputable hospitals worldwide,” he said.
