MP: Gaza Strip on verge of biggest humanitarian catastrophe

Hamedan : Majlis deputy and member of Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Hamid-Reza Haj Babaei said on Sunday that continuation of heinous crimes by the Zionist regime in Gaza Strip would create a humanitarian catastrophe for one and a half million people in that region.

Speaking to IRNA, he said the catastrophe is the result of President Bush’s Middle East tour.

“Unfortunately, Arab and Muslim countries have not taken any concrete action to this end,” he said.

It is expected that the Persian Gulf littoral states along with Arab countries in the Middle East region would joint hands to stop the Zionist regime’s aggression on Gaza Strip as soon as possible, he said.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has done its best to resolve the conflict and the country is capable enough to play a key role in resolving the issue, he pointed out.

The failure of the US in Annapolis conference is regarded as a deadly blow to that country and the invitation extended to President Ahmadinejad by PGCC leaders to attend their summit in Qatar was intolerable for President Bush and his allies, Haj Babaei underlined.

During his regional tour of the region, President Bush voiced his all out support for the aggression of the Zionist regime in Gaza Strip, he said.
