Through the tools and techniques of Edward De Bono’s lateral thinking method, special training would be imparted to 360 schools across India, 90 schools in each zone, to reach out to over 500,000 students.

Edward De Bono is regarded as the leading authority in the world in the field of creative thinking and the direct teaching of thinking as a skill.

“We are trying to come up with different types of courses of three-month, six-month and one year duration. This programme would be offered in two separate modes – through a full time course and online as well,” head of De Bono’s Centre at NSHM Krishnendu Sarkar said.

Speaking on the project, Peter Burns De Bono, world-famous De Bono Lateral Thinking and Cognitive Intelligence expert, said: “We will start this pilot project from West Bengal where we have targeted to shortlist at least 30 schools in the first phase.”

“Through this programme, the teachers would be taught the techniques of De Bono’s lateral thinking tools. They would share this with their fellow teacher and ultimately disseminate to their students,” he said reporters here Tuesday.

Peter, who is also the brother of Edward De Bono, the originator of the lateral thinking concept, launched the Bengali translation of Edward’s book, “Six Thinking Hats”.

NSHM and De Bono School set up NSHM-DE Bono Centre of Innovative and Thinking Management at the NSHM knowledge campus premises here last year. Oxford Books University is also in the process of validating all De Bono programmes in India.
