Gulbarga : After keeping mum for weeks since stories about Haj 2007 troubles appeared in the media, Chairman of the Haj Committee of India (HCI) has opened his mouth. Congress MP from Karnataka, Iqbal Ahmed Saradgi who also chairs HCI, said in Gulbarga on Monday the Haj pilgrimage 2007 was not smooth for Hajis from India.He reportedly admitted that Hajis had to face problems in getting Zam Zam water and their luggage. He admitted that 30% of the 1.10 lakh Hajis did not get Zam Zam water.
Since the troubles faced by Hajis came to public notice, TwoCircles.net has highlighted the issue. In an interview with Tariq Anwar of TwoCircles.net in Patna, director of Bihar Haj Committee had accepted that troubles emanated from Air India management. When Delhi bureau of TwoCircles.net tried to contact HCI chairman Iqbal Ahmed Saradgi, several calls returned blank.
Meanwhile, as a future course of action, the Union Civil Aviation Ministry is believed to have decided that Air India will prepare a plan so that baggage and Zam Zam water can be delivered smoothly to Hajis on their return.
