Saloon cars to participate in JK Tyre national racing

New Delhi : Saloon cars will be seen burning their rubbers for the first time in the 11th edition of the JK Tyre National Racing Championship starting Feb 9.

The championship will be held over six legs, of two races each, in Chennai and Coimbatore over a span of eight months. The concluding race will be held in Chennai Oct 4-5.

The saloon cars will race in category Group N, up to 1,400 cc MPFI engines, Race Star saloon cars up to 1,400 cc carburetted engines and Super Saloon cars on a cc-to-weight ratio of 1:1.75.

This is also the first time a national Enduro challenge has been introduced in the championship. In the challenge, the race will run for a duration of 90 minutes with two drivers per car where each driver will not more than 22 minutes at a stretch.

This year’s championship will also have superbike races of 600 cc and 100 cc category extended to riders who have raced as a hobby and have no foreign racing experience.
