Kabul : Three people were killed and two injured in a suicide car bomb attack near an army vehicle in the centre of Afghanistan’s capital Kabul on Thursday, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported.
The suicide bomber tried to ram a bus, carrying Afghan National Army personnel, but the vehicle exploded prematurely, killing the bomber, three passers-by and slightly wounding a civilian and military officer.
Eyewitnesses said that the likely victims of the attack were people traveling in two taxis and a man riding a bicycle behind the bomb-laden car. The explosion also damaged cars parked at the scene.
A spokesman for the extremist Taliban movement, which was behind a recent attack on the five-star Kabul Serena hotel in which at least eight people were killed, claimed responsibility by phone.
