New Delhi : The passenger facilities at the Indira Gandhi International Airport here have improved with renovation and modernization works, its developer Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) said Tuesday, a day after the government-set deadline was over.
In a statement, DIAL said it had successfully carried out an extensive renovation programme to enhance the efficiency of the airport terminals and had also improved its aesthetics and functionality.
“In order to reduce congestion at the international terminal, the departure ramp on the city side has been widened to accommodate more vehicles. The numbers of entry gates into the terminal have been increased from four to eight and the departure check-in area, an additional space of over 2,500 square metres has been added to increase the number of check-in counters,” it stated.
DIAL said it had deployed a large number of traffic marshals, free luggage porters and customer care executives on the city side to guide passengers.
It said the International terminal would have 100 check-in counters, up from 78. “These check-in counters will assist the airlines in processing passengers faster,” DIAL said.
