Srinagar : Two paramilitary troopers were wounded in a militant attack here Monday.
Suspected separatist guerrillas lobbed a grenade and then started firing from automatic weapons at a makeshift Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp in Karan Nagar area of the city, just one kilometre from city centre Lal Chowk, the police said.
“Two CRPF soldiers were wounded in the attack,” said a police officer.
The site of the guerrilla attack is half a kilometre away from the state legislature complex. The assembly was in session as Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad was seeking a vote of confidence for his government.
The Congress-led government was reduced to a minority after its largest alliance partner, the Peoples Democratic Party, withdrew from the coalition last week.
