Sichuan Earthquake Killed 69,179

Beijing : The official death toll of the May 12 earthquake in Sichuan China reached 69,197 on Tuesday, according to the State Council Information Board.

Up to now 18,379 people are still missing after the powerful earthquake of 8 degrees on the Richter Scale, with epicenter in Wenchuan district at the center of this Asian nation.

The number of wounded people reported by the medical and aid staff has hit 374,176 since the moment of the tragedy, with most victims recovered.

According to the Information Board there are still 6,079 people receiving medical attention in Hospitals.

The source also announced that the government’s funds to face this disaster have reached a little over 8 billion dollars from the central budget and the local governments.

In addition, national donations and those from abroad have amounted to 8.29 billion dollars.

At the same time The Chinese Seismology Administration announced that 173 aftershocks occurred in the last 24 hours in the north of Sichuan, all below four degrees on the Richter scale.
