Prakash in second round of Hall of Fame Championship

New Delhi : India’s wild card entry Prakash Amritraj joined compatriot Rohan Bopanna in the second round of the $385,000 Campbell’s Hall of Fame Tennis Championships in New Port, Rhode Island, Wednesday.

Prakash rallied after losing the first-set tie-breaker to beat Australian Joseph Sirianni, 6-7(3), 6-4, 6-4 in the first round of the grass court event.

Bopanna, who made it to the main draw as a qualifier, also advanced to the second round, beating American Kim Kevin 6-3, 6-4. The Indian now runs into world number 41, top-seeded American Mardy Fish.

Prakash, along with his Luxembourg pair Giles Muller, later shocked the second seeded Americans Scott Lipsky and David Martin, beating them 7-6 (4), 3-6 ,10-7 in the doubles first round.

Bopanna, too, along with Pakistani partner Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi entered the second round. The fourth-seeded pair defeated American duo of Tripp Phillips and Jim Thomas 4-6, 6-3, 10-2 .
