Lucknow : The Indian Industries Association (IIA) of Uttar Pradesh has announced that it has applied for empanelment in the Rajiv Gandhi Udyami Mitra Yojana (RGUMY), under which the body would assist young entrepreneurs to set up industries in the state.
RGUMY, which was launched earlier this year by the ministry of micro, small and medium enterprises for promoting micro industries, had invited applications from industry bodies to train and monitor small enterprises under the scheme.
“With our existing network of 35 chapters in all the industrial districts across the state, we could prove to be an effective and efficient helping hand for young and aspiring entrepreneurs,” IIA executive director D.S. Verma said.
Besides providing training and every assistance in setting up an enterprise, the IIA will also monitor the units.
“The IIA, over the years, is entertaining aspiring entrepreneurs and even providing assistance. But in most cases the exercise yielded no results due to lack of proper monitoring,” Verma explained.
The scheme is also offering financial assistance, ranging between Rs.4000 to Rs.6000, to young entrepreneurs to promote micro industries.
“The amount, we admit, is not very large but we hope that the responsibilities fixed by the scheme will definitely prove to be a booster for the growth of small and medium enterprises in the state,” Verma added.
