FM: Iran, Lebanon are old friends

Tehran : Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said that friendship between Iranians and Lebanese date back to ancient times.

According to Foreign Ministry Media Department, Mottaki made the remarks in a ceremony for the new Lebanese Ambassador Zain Mousawi in which he submitted his credentials to him.

Mottaki also congratulated the country’s success on solving its crisis and said, “We always maintained that Lebanese leaders had the capacity to solve the problems facing the country.”

He also hoped that stability will be institutionalized in the country.

Describing Iran and Lebanon’s cooperation capacities, especially in the industrial and commercial fields, as numerous, he also said, “We should pave the way for further recognition of the two countries’ private sectors of each other.”

Mousawi, for his part, appreciated Iran’s role in ending the crisis in the country and said that Iran is a great and powerful country.

He also expressed hope that he would be able to prepare necessary conditions for expanding bilateral ties.
