PM confident of winning trust vote, allays n-deal worries

New Delhi : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Tuesday said he was confident of winning the trust vote scheduled for July 22 and stressed that the India-US nuclear deal will neither hurt India’s strategic programme nor compromise the country’s independent foreign policy.

“People of India understand the significance of the nuclear deal. The nuclear deal will not hurt India’s strategic programme,” Manmohan Singh told senior editors at his residence here.

“It will not compromise India’s independent foreign policy,” Manmohan Singh said while pointing out that the India-US nuclear deal will end the nearly three-decade-long nuclear apartheid against the country.
