Chinese experts to upgrade Orissa railway station

Bhubaneswar : A team of Chinese experts Tuesday surveyed and inspected the railway station here to re-design and upgrade it to a world class railway station, an official said.

The Chinese railway delegation, led by Wu Wei, director of Sino-India Railway Co-operation Working Group, visited the railway station at the state capital and held discussions with A.K. Goyal, general manager of the East Coast Railway, and other senior officials, the official said.

“This specialist team from China will submit its report to the Railway Board very soon regarding the feasibility (of re-designing and upgrading the Bhubaneswar railway station),” the East Coast Railway said in a release.

Bhubaneswar station has been identified for development as a world class railway station by the ministry of railways.

The station would be built on the Public-Private-Partnership mode and would be the focal point of industrial and transport activity of eastern India.
