The chief of the Arab and African cooperation office Samir Hasani said the emergency meeting with foreign Relations Minister will examine the situation created with the announcement of the International Penal Court (IPC), rejected by Khartoum.

The IPC attorney Luis Moreno-Ocampo issued an arrest warrant against the Sudanese president for genocide and crimes of lese-humanity in the last five years of slaughter in Darfur region.

“We have decided to hold an urgent meeting of Arab foreign affairs minister for Saturday at the Arab headquarters in El Cairo,” confirmed to the press Hicham Youssef, chief of the General Secretary’s cabinet of the Arab League Amr Moussa.

The IPC charge said that Al-Basir conceived and executed a plan to destroy the three main ethnic groups in Darfur with solid political motivations.

The Arab League, made up of 22 countries from northern Africa and the Middle East, will have to comment about the arrest warrant of Sudanese Head of State by the International Court headquarters in The Hague.
