Ramallah : Israeli army arrested 13 Palestinians during several raids in the West Bank cities and suburbs, local and security sources said on Wednesday.
In Nablus city, Israeli troops detained eight Palestinians following a midnight incursion in which the Israeli army vehicles rolled into the city from various directions.
During the operation, the army stormed a shopping mall, days after it issued an order to shut it down for its alleged links to Islamic Hamas movement, the sources said.
The soldiers also broke into an office for a local human rights organization and confiscated computers, documents and files for some Palestinian prisoners, said Fares Abu al-Hassan, the director of the International Solidarity Human Rights Organization.
Meanwhile, the Israeli army conducted an operation into a refugee camp near Tubass city, arresting five residents and wounding several people, witnesses said.
More than 20 Israeli army vehicles entered the camp after closing the roads to prevent any movement out or into the area. The soldiers used fire, tear gas and sonic bombs during the incursion.
The medical source said some people were wounded with gunshots and others with rubber bullets and were transferred to Nablus hospital.
The Israeli army storms West Bank areas and arrests Palestinians almost on a daily basis, claiming the arrested are wanted by the intelligence services. Recently, Israel also launched a crackdown on Hamas’ civil organizations in the West Bank.
