New Delhi : A chain of seven time bombs, each with the power of two grenades, killed two and left 20 wounded in Bangalore, Karnataka, south India, capital of information technology.
Local Police Chief Shankar Bidri told TV Channel Times Now that the bombs were set off at packed public places at Madivala check point, Adugudi, Ashoknagar, Hosur Road, Koramangala, Shantinagar and Langford.
Bangalore remains on maximum alert while schools, malls and movie theaters were closed, with official calls for the people to stay calm.
This has been the second serial blast this year following May 13, when eight chain explosions 12 minutes apart in Jaipur, Rajasthan, caused 65 fatalities and 150 wounded people.
Similar events were reported in 2007 on May 18, four bombs on Lahore-Samjhauta Express killed 68 and left dozens of people wounded, and a blast in a Mosque killed ten and left 12 wounded people.
On August 25, two bombs killed 43 and wounded 70 people at a concert and a restaurant in Hyderabad and in November 2007 three blasts at three cities of Uttar Pradesh killed 13 people.
The Central Intelligence Bureau fears a payback from the Movement of Islamic Students of India for recent arrest of several leaders and agents and the Islamic organization Lashkar-e-Taiba, regarded as terrorist in India and Pakistan.
