India lodges strong protest with Pakistan over killing of soldier at LoC

New Delhi : India Tuesday strongly protested the unprovoked firing by Pakistani troops along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir in which one Indian soldier was killed. The protest was lodged when Indian Director General of Military Operations Lt Gen A.S. Sekhon spoke to his Pakistani counterpart Maj Gen Nasir Janjua on the hotline, a source in the Indian Defence Ministry told reporters here. Army officers of the two countries also held a flag meeting at LoC. The flag meeting took place at the Tangdhar sector of the LoC in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, after exchange of fire which continued since yesterday stopped this morning, the source informed.

The meeting, which began this noon continued for one hour, the source said.

Both India and Pakistan are maintaining ceasefire along LoC since 2003.
