Mumbai (Maharashtra): To protest the serial blasts in Bangalore and Ahmedabad in which 50 people were killed, several Muslim organizations staged a dharna (sit-in) at Azad Maidan on 28th July.
Unanimously and strongly they condemned the deadly blasts. The dharna, organized by the Movement for Peace & Justice (MPJ), was supported and attended by the representatives of All India Ulema Council, Mumbai Aman Committee, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Dawat-e-Millat Council and other organizations. The dharna was also attended by Christian Forum and some Dalit organizations.
Condemning the blasts and terrorism, the representatives of the organizations said the blasts were aimed at creating communal tension and disturb peace. They appealed to people to maintain calm.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, MPJ President Dr. Azimuddin said the blasts should be thoroughly investigated. He said not only Islam, no religion allows killing of innocents.
