He made the remark in his address to the 15th NAM foreign ministers meeting which opened here Tuesday.

The Mideast security and stability cannot be achieved without joining the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), he added.

Welcoming recent nuclear talks held between Iran and representatives of the Group 5 1 in Geneva, he expressed the hope that the two sides would find an acceptable solution.

Iran’s top nuclear negotiator and Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili and the EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana reviewed Iran’s peaceful nuclear programme in Geneva on July 19.

He voiced his country’s support for the Geneva talks which was aimed at settling the remaining issues between the two sides.

On the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian lands, al-Sabah called on all peace-loving nations to support formation of a popular Palestinian government with the holy Qods as its capital.

He further urged the Israeli government to withdraw from all Arab territories, including Golan Heights and the Sheba’a Farms.

He voiced his country’s concern over the critical situation of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

The 118 member states, 15 observer members, and eight international and regional organisations are attending the two-day NAM foreign ministers meeting.

The NAM members, especially its founders and influential members such as Iran, are determined to discuss in the Tehran meeting ways and strategies to upgrade capacity of and revitalize the world’s major body.

Formed in the climax of the World War II to stand up to NATO and Warsaw Treaty members, NAM started to forge convergence among states, that were later labelled as the Non-Aligned states.
