Khartoum : Over 50 African and international humanitarian non-governmental organizations labeled inefficient the UN Peace Keeping Mission in Darfur, western Sudan, according to a report on Monday.
Experts blame the mission failure on poor equipment of donor countries and slow deployment of African Union and UN forces.
The document also mentiones Khartoum’s refusal to accept soldiers from other countries, citing meddling in domestic affairs and violation of its sovereignty.
Sudan President Omar Hassan al-Bashir visited Darfur last week and he voiced official goal to take peace, justice and development to the area.
Dismas Nkunda, spokesman of the group that drafted the report, called it tough but naked truth: the international community’s failure to react is costing lives,” he stated.
