Tehran : Cuban Foreign Minister Felipe Perez Roque affirmed on Tuesday that his country will continue the battle to democratize international relations in a world where the Non-aligned States cope with ever serious challenges.
When speaking at the 15th NAM Ministerial Conference in the Iranian capital, Perez Roque pointed out that one of the chairmanship”s priorities is to consolidate the defense of its stances at the UN Security Council.
Regarding that, he highlighted the increasing efficiency when coordinating NAM stances in key UN processes, as well as the ever growing importance of the decisions by the Coordinating Bureau in New York.
He denounced that powerful nations are ever more frequently using the UN Security Council as “spearhead to harass and sanction” southern countries. “Whenever we act together, it will be like having the right to veto,” he stressed.
The foreign minister warned that a real world dictatorship has been trying to impose through war and economic power, and the situation has become ever more complex in the last months.
“We live in an ever more unequal world in which hundreds of millions of people are pushed to unemployment, poverty, hunger, and diseases,” the minister said, and rated the international economic order as unfair and exclusive.
Perez Roque categorically urged NAM to strengthen the capacity to jointly face defamatory campaigns and maneuvers condemning its members.
