New Delhi : A two-member team of the National Commission for Women (NCW) visited the blast sites in Ahmedabad and has asked the state government to give special attention to the families of women and children killed in the terror attacks.
NCW chairperson Girija Vyas and commission member Manu Snehlata Hembrom are on a two-day visit to the affected areas in the Gujarat city to assess the plight of the women and children affected by the blasts.
Vyas also met victims undergoing treatment at various hospitals in Ahmedabad, a statement issued by the commission said here.
The team is expected to recommend rehabilitation packages and will return Thursday, it added.
Strongly condemning the bomb blasts, Vyas appealed to the people to remain clam.
She also asked the Gujarat government to maintain peace and harmony in the state and to provide all necessary help and succour to the injured and the families of the deceased, specially women and children.
Twenty-one blasts ripped through Ahmedabad Saturday, killing at least 50 people and injuring over 200. On the days following the terror strike, 22 bombs were found in Surat, about 200 km from Ahmedabad.
