Future Movement leader Saad Hariri announced that he was suspending his participation in talks aimed at forming a new cabinet to protest slack security in Beirut in the wake of repeated security breaches, said the report.

The movement’s Future TV reported Wednesday that Imad Zaghloul, supporter of Future movement, was shot and wounded Tuesday night, and the shooters were in police uniforms.

“Persistent attacks and provocations only complicate matters instead of turning a new page and putting the black days behind us,” Hariri was quoted as saying.

Hariri, in remarks published by the pan-Arab daily Al-Hayat on Thursday, called on the Arab ministerial committee to “dispatch an Arab envoy immediately to investigate the facts in Beirut to guarantee implementation of the security part of the Doha agreement.”

The Doha agreement reached on May 21 between Lebanese factions brought an end to the Lebanese deadlock and security escalations. The agreement resulted in electing President Michel Suleiman after six months of vacancy in the presidential seat, and still needs to be followed by the formation of a new cabinet, a step which is facing many difficulties.

The Doha dialogue came after the long ongoing political crisis in the country turned violent earlier in May.
