21 civilians killed, 64 injured in a blast in Sri Lanka

New Delhi : At least 21 civilians were killed and 64 others were injured when suspected Tamil Tigers have exploded a claymore bomb targeting a crowded public transport bus at Katubadda, Moratuwa near Sri Lankan capital, Colombo, Friday morning.

The roadside bomb placed at a location between Shailabimbaramya Buddhist Temple and the University of Moratuwa has been exploded targeting a bus that was traveling from Piliyandala to Mount Lavenia, Colombopage reported from Sri Lanka quoting defence sources.

The hospital sources said, 21 people have been killed and 64 were injured in the terror attack.

The injured have been rushed to the Kalubowila Teaching Hospital and Lunawa General Hospital.

LTTE Tigers have stepped up attacks on civilian targets recently as they are becoming desperate at their military losses in the North.

Sri Lankan government has stepped up its military campaign against the rebels vowing to crush the rebel outfit.

At least six people were injured in a bomb blast in the outskirts of Sri Lanka’s national capital, Colombo, on June 4.

While nine people, including five women, were killed and 71 others injured when a bomb, planted by suspected LTTE rebels, ripped through a packed train in the same area last week.
