New Delhi : The Central American Integration System (SICA) discussed with India cooperation and food security namely, said Nicaraguan Foreign Minister Samuel Santos.

Santos said that they also talked on security against terrorism and climate change, India’s support to Central American food sovereignty defense and expanding computer development, plus know-how in other fields to help the region expand.

The package includes setting up a technical commission to draft and implement accords.

The Nicaraguan head diplomat lauded the meeting since “Central America talked with one voice on behalf of the region not as individuals Central America talked with one voice.”

Indian Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee and other ministry officials held a work visit with the visitors that also paid courtesy visits to Premier Manmohan Singh and President Pratibha Patil.

In addition to Santos, this first SICA meeting in New Delhi also envolved counterparts Samuel Lewis (Panama), Haroldo Rodas (Guatemala) and Bruno Stagno (Costa Rica).

Also present were Deputy Foreign Ministers Eduardo Calix (El Salvador), Eduardo E. Reina (Honduras), Clara Quifiones (Dominican Republic), and SICA Political Affair Erick Contantino.

Minister Santos called sterile if one single country develops while the others stay backwards.
