New Delhi : The Delhi government Tuesday granted minority status to the Jain community.
Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit told reporters after a cabinet meeting: “We have accepted a long pending demand of the Jain community for grant of minority status. The community has already been granted minority status in several states.”
“This would help the Jain community to effectively manage their educational institutions as per parameters specified for such institutions,” she said.
The chief minister said the Delhi cabinet has also given its nod for registration of its e-governance society, which would facilitate implementation of an e-governance road map for providing services to citizens and business.
