Islamabad : The military spokesman in a statement on Wednesday confirmed that at least 11 soldiers were killed in an overnight Allied Forces airstrike in the Pakistani bordering tribal region and said a strong protest has been lodged.
The coalition air strike destroyed a border check post of paramilitary force in Mohmand tribal Agency on the night of June 10, said the statement. The Frontier Corps (FC) border check post at Gora Prai in Mohmand Agency was destroyed by Coalition Forces in Afghanistan through an aerial attack, it said, adding that the attacked killed 11 security forces personnel including one officer.
The military condemned the incident and termed it completely unprovoked and cowardly act. It regretting the loss of precious lives of the Pakistani soldiers, blamed the US coalition forces for the violent act and said that “the incident had hit at the very basis of cooperation and sacrifice with which Pakistani soldiers are supporting the coalition in war against terror”. A strong protest had been lodged by the Pakistan army, it said, adding, “We reserve the right to protect our citizens and soldiers against aggression”.
