Two tusks stolen from Corbett museum

New Delhi : Two tusks weighing 18 kg each and two decades old were stolen early Thursday from a wildlife museum attached to the Jim Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand.

The robbery took place around 2 a.m., park director Rajiv Bhartari told IANS over telephone. The park is located some 300 km from here. The police have launched an investigation.

But trophies and other items in the museum were safe, Bhartari said.

The tusks could fetch up to Rs.15 million ($350,000) in the international market, a wildlife activist said.
