New Delhi : The Centre (the Federal Govt) has ruled out any division of West Bengal state on the Gorkhaland issue and is keen that the crisis in Darjeeling hills and neighbouring areas is resolved through peaceful means.
“We will try and solve the issue peacefully within the ambit of the Darjeeling Hill Council and see to it that there is no danger of the state’s division,” Information and Broadcasting Minister P R Dasmunsi told reporters here.
The Centre was looking forward to the all-party meeting convened by Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya at Kolkata on June 17 in a bid to resolve the situation, Dasmunsi, who is also the state’s Congress chief, said yesterday.
