Lucknow : Two dacoits – one wanted for over three dozen cases of murder, kidnapping and looting and the other who escaped from a jail – were killed in exchange of fire with the police Friday in Etawah district, the police said.
Nadiya was shot along with his associate Lokhariya in a joint operation of the Special Operation Group and the district police in Etawah Friday, a police official said.
Nadiya was facing charges of murder, kidnapping, and looting in over three dozen cases lodged against him in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, and carried a cash reward of Rs.25,000 on his head.
“The exchange of fire took place in the jungles of Nabedi on the city outskirts. We also shot dead another dacoit, Lokhariya, who escaped from the Etawah district jail a few days ago,” S.D. Singh, a police officer at Nabedi police station, told IANS by phone.
