Lucknow: Instead of taking appropriate disciplinary action against the officer who disgraced the Holy Quran on Tuesday night in Lucknow jail, U.P. Chief Minister Mayawati simply transferred the Lucknow jail superintendent, B.C. Yadav.
According to the rules and regulations of the government employment, transfer of an employee is actually a routine action. It does not come under any punitive action.
It is remarkable that, this is the second incident in the tenure of the Mayawati government when an officer committing excesses against Muslims has been set free at large without any punishment.
Earlier incident occurred on January 1, 2008. On that day, the Additional Director General of police, Brij Lal, arrested the innocent citizen of Kolkata, Aftab Ansari, and subjected him to extreme mental and physical torture on the accusation of bomb explosions in courts in Uttar Pradesh on November 23, 2007.
Although later on, the Additional Director General of police, Brij Lal admitted that Aftab Ansari was arrested because of the wrong identification. But no disciplinary or formal action has been taken against him till date. The Mayawati government accepted this excuse and did not take any action against him.
