Ranchi : In yet another incident of bank robbery in Jharkhand, armed robbers Tuesday escaped with Rs.150,000 in cash from a bank in Gumla district, the police said.
According to the police, Rs.150,000 in cash were robbed from the Gramin Bank in Gumla district, around 140 km from here.
Three unidentified people arrived at the bank around 11.30 a.m. and went to the cash counter. At gun point, they threatened the bank employees and took away Rs.150,000. No security guard was present at the bank when the robbery took place.
This was the third bank robbery in Jharkhand in the past five weeks.
On May 22, Maoist rebels hijacked an ICICI bank van and looted Rs.50 million and one kg gold. Early this month, another bank was looted in Simdega district.
In the last seven years, over 50 banks have been looted in the state. Over 20 banks were looted by the Maoist rebels, the police said.
