Election Commission announces official results of Elections-2008

Islamabad : Election Commission of Pakistan has announced official results of 2008 Elections. The election was held on the 18th of February, 2008 .

Announcing the result, Secretary Election Commission Kunwar Muhammad Dilshad said that the Commission has declared the result of 258 seats of National Assembly, 291 Punjab Assembly, 122 Sindh, 89 NWFP and 48 seats of Balochistan Assembly.

To a question, he said the Courts had issued stay orders on some seats and after the vacation and thorough checking, the list of return candidates were issued.

He said the complaints filed by some Members have been checked and disposed off.

Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad said Election Commission has appointed election tribunal and it is the proper forum for thorough investigation.

He asked the independents to join the Party of their choice within three days of the issue of the result and submit their application to the Election Commission through the head of the Party.

He said the election on women and minority seats will be held on the basis of the lists provided on November 26.

Secretary Election Commission said lists of successful candidates have been sent to National and concerned Provincial Assemblies.

Regarding by-election, he said the date for by-election will be fixed after the session of National and Provincial Assemblies.

To another question regarding participation of Nazims in the Elections, he said the Nazims took part after resignation.
