Abbas appeals for halt of Israeli aggression, ends negotiations with Tel Aviv

Ramallah : Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has said that he will continue contacts with all concerned parties to bring about an end to the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.

Speaking during a blood donation campaign here Sunday organised for victims of the Israeli attacks in Gaza, Abbas said contacts would continue to bring an end to the Israeli aggression.

Abbas said contacts have been launched with world leaders, the United Nations Security Council, the European Union and the Arab League to stop the Israeli attack.

Meanwhile, Abbas decided to end negotiations with Israel in response to the military operations in Gaza.

Palestinian presidential spokesman Nabil Aburdina in statements to reporters here Sunday, said the decision was in response to Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert’s comments confirming continuation of the aggression on Gaza.

The Palestinian negotiating team was instructed by Abbas to halt contacts with the Israeli side, said the spokesman, denouncing Olmert’s statements and held the Israeli government responsible for the outcome of the ongoing attacks.
