New Delhi : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Tuesday hailed the Indian cricket team “for its historic victory” over Australia in the Commonwealth Bank tri-series, calling it a “result of great leadership and good management”.
Making an intervention in the Rajya Sabha during a debate on President Pratibha Patil’s address to the joint session of the two houses, Manmohan Singh said: “The team has made the entire country proud with this fabulous win. The victory has created history.
“This victory is a result of great leadership and a good management.”
India scored a nine-run win in a thriller to clinch the Commonwealth Bank Trophy title at the Gabba.
Earlier, officials said separately that Manmohan Singh “congratulated the Indian team for its historic victory against Australia”.
