Yamuna Nagar (Haryana) : In an unparalleled show of generosity and solidarity, the Muslim community at a village in Yamuna Nagar district of Haryana has allowed Sikhs to use a part of Wakf land for religious purposes.
This unique gesture has made by villagers in Ratouli village, about 30 km from the district headquarters.
At a meeting of the two communities Thursday, leaders of the Muslim community took the initiative to allow Sikhs to use a part of the land where they had hoisted `Nishan Sahib’ (the Sikh temple flag).
The land belongs to the Wakf board.
Yamuna Nagar District Deputy Commissioner Nitin Yadav said: “The Muslim community has allowed the Sikh community to use a part of the Wakf land in Ratouli village.”
He said the final decision regarding the wakf land has to be taken by the chief executive officer of the Haryana Wakf Board at Ambala.
The Muslims had initially objected when the Sikh raised a wall after the `Nishan Sahib’ was set up. This led to tension between the two communities and in the in the village.
The Muslim community members demanded that no harm should come to the local mosque. The Sikhs have agreed to it.
The decision taken by the Muslim community has helped ease tension in Ratouli village.
