BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah confirmed that he has received a mail from CA which asked Harbhajan to be reined in by the board.

“We have asked Harbhajan not to talk to the media on the Australian tour,” Shah said Sunday.

Harbhajan courted several controversies during the summer Down Under. He was involved in a racism row during the controversial Sydney Test after Andrew Symonds alleged that the Indian has hurled racist remarks at him.

Harbhajan became the favourite whipping boy of Australian fans and media alike as he was the most vocal of the Indian players on the field and gave it back to the Aussie sledging with equal intensity.

After landing in India, Harbhajan said India could win the historic tri-series because they matched the “aggressive” Aussies in every aspect.

Harbhajan also said Hayden is “a liar” and Adam Gilchrist is “no saint”. These remarks did not go down well with CA and it sent a missive to the BCCI, asking it to shut Harbhajan up and not reopen the controversies.
