The first four deaths in Bachrawan town of Rae Bareli occurred March 13 followed by more the following days.

District authorities Monday ordered a magisterial probe into the deaths.

“I am also getting announcements made in and around the area to warn people against consumption of illicit liquor,” District magistrate Devendra Dube told IANS over telephone from Rae Bareli, about 85 km from here.

While cops paid little heed to the incident earlier, they got into action only after the deaths were reported in the local media.

No arrest has been made yet.
