Ranchi, March 24 (IANS) Jharkhand assembly speaker Aalamgir Aalam and some politicians have received SMSes threatening that they would be killed by April 2, the police said Monday.
Former minister and Janata Dal-United (JD-U) legislator Ramesh Singh Munda received an SMS Saturday threatening that he would be killed by April 2. Aalam, former chief minister Arjun Munda and another legislator also received similar SMSes a day later.
Munda has lodged a compliant at Bundu police station here.
“We are investigating the case. After the JD-U legislator lodged a compliant, we checked the mobile number from Reliance (service provider). The name and address mentioned in the mobile was found to be incorrect,” said Senior Superintendent of Police M.S. Bhatia.
Water Resources Minister Kamlesh Singh said he received a threatening call on Saturday, the day of Holi.
In 2007, Sunil Mahto, a Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) MP, was killed on the day of Holi. He had been invited to watch a football match.
