Cairo : The resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh is due to host the second ministerial conference of the Asian-Mideast dialogue under the theme, “practical participation for a better furture,” on April 5-6.
Conferees, including the Kuwaiti delegation, due to be headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, are scheduled to address security, political, economic issues and political reforms in the region and Asia, plans for facing terrorism in Asia and the Middle East through legislations, the media and education.
They will discuss natural catastrophes, communicable diseases, improving investment atmospheres in Asia and the Middle East, promoting tourism, cooperation in the banking and tourism sectors, various social, educational, scientific topics and information technology.
The agenda also deals with development of cooperation between the Asian and Middle eastern countries in the realms of human resources, labor, climatic change, desecrating offensives against religions and prospects of promoting respect among nations.
A draft paper including principles of cooperation and friendship among the states involved in the dialogue says that sustainable economic development requires a policy of stable relations between Asia and the Middle East. It indicates at the need for bolstering peace, stability and international understanding, and notes that a serious dialogue between the two sides will result in cementing the cultural, political and economies bonds and ultimately lead to adding to the weight of the twe regions on the international arena.
It further says that the participants in the Asian-Mideastern dialogue bear the responsibility of strengthening the social and economic stability in the two regions and ensuring peace and national developments in their countries.
The parties in the dialogue, according to text, affirm their abidance by the objectives and principles stipulated by the charter of the United Nations and international laws.
The draft also notes the parties’ full respect for the independence and sovereignty of nations of the globe, their adherence to the principle of non-intervention in states’ domestic affairs, their call for holding an international conference for comabting terrorism under auspices of the United Nations and establishing an international center to serve this objective.
They have also emphasized importance of cooperation between the private and public sectors for sake of promoting economic cooperation, necessity of boosting small and medium enterprises, food security and the communication techonology in the realm of economic cooperation.
The draft of the principles’ declaration also deals with various other topics namely dialogue among nations of diverse doctrines and cultures and the fact that terrorism contradicts the message of religions.
