Berlin : A 34-year-old Turkish male suspect was arrested in Berlin on charges of being a member of the outlawed Turkish Workers’ Party (PKK), press reports said.
Vakuf M. whose alias was Dersim, is accused of heading PKK operations in three south German cities, Nuremberg, Mainz and Damrstadt from July 2004 until June 2007.
The suspect who faces two counts of belonging to a criminal group and extortion, led also PKK activities in Berlin from July 2007.
The PKK and its sub-organizations have been banned in Germany since November 1993.
