Chandigarh : The Haryana government Saturday made an offer to Virender Sehwag, who scored a triple century in the ongoing Test match against South Africa, to set up a training academy for budding cricketers in the state.
Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda made the offer during a telephonic conversation with Sehwag, who is in Chennai. Hooda called up the batsman to congratulate him on scoring his second triple century in test matches – and the fastest one ever.
“The state government will provide all facilities and assistance for setting up the cricket academy,” Hooda told Sehwag.
Sehwag scored 319 runs in the first test match between India and South Africa being played in Chennai. He is the only Indian batsman to have scored triple centuries.
The Haryana chief minister is a keen cricketer himself.
